RESOLUTION NO. 2003-289
WHEREAS, Providence Academy and Wayzata Hockey have requested the addition of a
third sheet of ice at the Plymouth Ice Center; and
WHEREAS, Providence Academy and Wayzata Hockey have pledged $1,875,000
towards a third sheet of ice; and
WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Advisory Commission has reviewed this issue and
found there to be a need for a third sheet of ice; and
WHEREAS, the Park Commission has recommended a five year capital improvement
budget including funds for a third sheet of ice; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has reviewed this request and
recommends approval,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLYMOUTH CITY COUNCIL that
City staff is authorized to begin the process of sending RFPs and selecting an architect
for the project, preparing site plan and preliminary design for the facility and updated
cost for the facility, testing of soils, negotiating letters of agreement with Providence
Academy and Wazyata Hockey, working with traffic issues with the adjacent
neighborhoods and users of the facility, assembling a committee to make sure the design
of the facility would be architecturally pleasing, and seeking parking arrangements with
adjacent businesses before constructing the additional 57 parking spaces.
