HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2003-235CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION 2003-235 APPROVING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT TO REMOVE FOUR PARCELS FROM THE "CITY -OWNED OPEN SPACE" DESIGNATION (2003022) WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has initiated a Comprehensive Plan amendment to remove four parcels located west of East Medicine Lake Boulevard near 24th Avenue from the "City -Owned Open Space" designation; and WHEREAS, the parcels affected by this amendment is legally described as follows: Lot 6, Jevnes Subd. of Block 17, Medicine Lake Park 3rd Division Lot 7, Jevnes Subd. of Block 17, Medicine Lake Park 3rd Division Lot 8, Jevnes Subd. of Block 17, Medicine Lake Park 3rd Division Park, Medicine Lake Park 3rd Division WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said request at a duly called public hearing and recommends approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does approve the request for a comprehensive plan amendment to remove the above-specified parcels from the "City -Owned Open Space" designation, based on the following finding and subject to the following condition: Finding: 1. The above-specified parcels were erroneously indicated as "City -Owned Open Space" on maps when the City updated its Comprehensive Plan in 2000. Three of the four parcels were acquired by the City in the early 1970's for general city use and not as "open space", and one of the four parcels is privately owned and developed with a single-family home. Resolution 2003-235 (2003 022) Page 2 Condition: 1. Approval of this Comprehensive Plan amendment is contingent upon, and subject to, the required review and response by the Metropolitan Council. FURTHER, to incorporate this amendment, the City will need to make modifications—that remove the "City -Owned Open Space" designation for the above-specified parcels—to the following figures presented in Chapter 8 (Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation Plan) of the City's Comprehensive Plan: ■ Figure 8-2 "Existing Parks & Open Space" ■ Figure 8-3 "Park System Plan" ■ Figure 8-6 "Existing City Trails and Sidewalks" ■ Figure 8-11 "City Trail and Sidewalk Plan' ■ Figure 8-13 "City -Owned Open Space" ■ Figure 8-14 "Significant Natural Resource Sites" ADOPTED by the City Council on May 13, 2003.
