ORDINANCE NO. 98-45
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER III
OF THE PLYMOUTH CITY CODE
CONCERNING TAX LEVIES
THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Chapter III of the Plymouth City Code is amended by adding Section 325 to
read as follows:
Section 325 - Tax Levies
325.01. Increase in Tax Rate. A two thirds majority of all members of the City Council is
required to adopt a tax levy resolution that increases the City's tax rate over the prior year. Tax
rate means the quotient derived by dividing the City's tax levy by the City's net tax capacity.
325.03 Repeal. This Section may not be repealed or amended until after a public hearing
has been held by the City Council. A notice of the time, place, and purposes of the hearing shall
be published in the City's official newspaper twice. The two publications shall be a week apart
and the hearing shall be at least three days after the last publication. A repealing ordinance shall
not take effect for a period of one year after its adoption.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Council this 10' day of December, 1998.
