HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1998-36CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDINANCE NO. 98-36 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF CHAPTER IV, BUILDING, HOUSING AND CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS, OF THE PLYMOUTH CITY CODE SECTION 400, BUILDING CODE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Plymouth City Code Section 400 — Building Code is hereby amended in part, as follows: 400.01. State Building Code. Subdivision 1. Code Adoption. The Building Code of the State of Minnesota, authorized by Minnesota Statutes, Sections 16B.59 to 16B.75, as amended, and embodied in the Rules of the Commissioner of Administration, is the Building Code of the City of Plymouth, and is a part of this Code as completely as if fully set forth herein. A copy of the Minnesota State Building Code shall be kept available for public use in the office of the Building Official. Subd. 2. Procedures and Administration. (a) As provided in the Minnesota State Building Code, the following are hereby adopted by reference: (1) Minnesota Building Code, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1300. (2) Building Official Certification, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1301. (3) State Building Construction Approvals, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1302. (4) 1997 Edition of the Uniform Building Code, identified as "UBC". (5) 1997 Uniform Building Code Appendix Chapters: 3, Division I, (Detention and Correctional Facilities) 12, Division II, (Sound Transmission Control) 15, (Reroofing) 16, Division I, (Snow Load Design) 29, (Minimum Plumbing Fixtures) 31, Division II, (Membrane Structures) Ordinance 98-36 Page 2 (6) Elevators and Related Devices, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1307. (7) 1996 Edition of the National Electrical Code, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1315. (8) Solar Energy Systems, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1325. (9) Fallout Shelters, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1330. (10) Flood Proofing Regulations, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1335. (11) Facilities for the Handicapped, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1340. (12) 1991 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1346. (13) Manufactured Homes, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1350. (14) Prefabricated Buildings, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1360. (15) Industrialized/Modular Buildings, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1361. (16) Storm Shelters, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 1370. (17) Minnesota Plumbing Code, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 4715. (18) Minnesota Energy Code, identified in the Minnesota State Building Code as Chapter 7670. (b) The following Appendices, Standards and Supplemental Materials are not a mandatory part of the State Code but are adopted by reference for the City of Plymouth and are incorporated into this Code as completely as if set out in full. Ordinance 98-36 Page 3 (1) The following Chapter from the 1997 UBC Appendix: Chapter 33. (Excavation and Grading) (2) Flood Proofing Regulations, Parts 1335.0600 to 1335.1200, Chapter 1335 of the Minnesota State Building Code, and F.P.R. Sections 205.4 to 208.2. Subd. 3. Organization and Enforcement. The organization of the Building Department and enforcement of the Code shall be conducted within the guidelines established by Chapter 1 of the Uniform Building Code 1997 Edition. Section 2. This section shall be effective immediately upon its passage Adopted by the City Council this 4th day of November, 1998. ATTEST City Clerk
