HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 1998-12s CITY OF PLYMOUTH HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 98-12 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLYMOUTH CITY CODE, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 21, (ANTENNAS AND THE P -I, PUBLIC INSTITUTIONAL ZONING DISTRICT) (97155) THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH ORDAINS: Section 1. Section 21175 of the Plymouth City Code (Antennas) is hereby amended to read as follows: 21175.09. COMMERCIAL, PUBLIC RADIO AND TELEVISION TRANSMITTING ANTENNAS, PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATION ANTENNAS AND PUBLIC UTILITY MICROWAVE ANTENNAS: Commercial, public radio and television transmitting antennas, public safety communication antennas, and public utility microwave antennas shall comply with the following standards: Subd.1. Such antennas shall be considered an allowed conditional use within an Industrial District and the Public/Institutional District and shall be subject to the regulations and requirements of Section 21015 of this Chapter. Subd.2. The antennas, transmitting towers, or array of towers shall be located on a continuous parcel having a dimension equal to the height of the antenna, transmitting tower, or array of towers measured between the base of the antenna or tower located nearest a property line and said property line, unless a qualified structural engineer specifies in writing that the collapse of any antenna or tower will occur within a lesser distance under all foreseeable circumstances. Subd.3. Unless the antenna is mounted on an existing structure, at the discretion of the City, a fence not greater than eight (8) feet in height with a maximum Ordinance 98-12 Page 2 opacity of fifty (50) percent shall be provided around the support structure and other equipment. Subd. 4. Towers in excess of 150 feet may be of a lattice design. Section 2. Section 21650 of the Plymouth City Code (Public/Institutional District) is hereby amended to read as follows: 21650.07 Subd.19. Public safety communication towers and antennas, provided that: (a) Public safety communication towers in excess of 150 feet in height shall be located on property not less than 10 acres in size. (b) Public safety communication towers shall comply with the standards and requirements of Section 21175. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage.
