Home My WebLink AboutCity Council Resolution 2015-119CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION No. 2015-119 RESOLUTION TO APPROVE CONSTRUCTION PLANS FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE PLYMOUTH ICE CENTER/LIFE TIME FITNESS PARKING LOT, CITY PROJECT N0. 40044 AND AUTHORIZE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID WHEREAS, the Plymouth Ice Center (PIC) and Life Time Fitness parking lot is scheduled in the 2015 Capital Improvement Program for replacement in 2015. The parking lot is nearing the average 20 year lifespan of this type of facility and is in need of repair; and WHEREAS, over the years, both facilities have steadily increased in popularity and usage, which justifies the need for the expansion in an effort to meet the current and future needs of the facility and City Center area; and WHEREAS, the City and Life Time Fitness has hired Elfering & Associates to provide design and construction plans for the project with the potential expansion of 86-101 on-site parking stalls and relocation of the parking lot entrance off of 37th Avenue; and WHEREAS, to proceed with option 3 (expansion), variances for parking lot location (parking in front of the building), lighting (re -use of existing lights), and shallower parking spaces (18 ft. vs. 18.5 ft.) and narrower drive aisle width (24 ft. vs. 26 ft.) will be required; and WHEREAS, the ten parallel parking spots will be removed from the project design as per discussion at the April 28, 2015 City Council meeting; and WHEREAS, the bid process will be initiated in April/May and available for bid award at a 2015 City Council meeting; and WHEREAS, the estimated project cost is $900,000. The project cost will be split equally between the City and Life Time Fitness. The overall project estimate is $900,000, with funding from the Park Replacement Fund ($125,000), funding from the Park Dedication Fund ($325,000). NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that construction plans for the renovation of the Plymouth Ice Center/Life Time Fitness Parking Lot, (PRK40044) is hereby approved. Furthermore, authorization to advertise for bids is hereby approved. APPROVED this 28 day of April, 2015.
