RESOLUTION No. 2012-294
A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE MEDICAL INSURANCE
PROVIDER TO MEDICA
WHEREAS, the city seeks to provide employees with quality, competitively priced
benefits, and
WHEREAS, due to significant premium increases proposed from the existing provider, a
request for proposal was issued to evaluate employee medical insurance providers in the market;
and
WHEREAS, Financial Concepts, the City's benefit consultant, has reviewed the
proposals for coverage and the impacts of employee/employer premiums and has determined that
it is in the best interests of the city and its employees to consider a change in providers; and
WHEREAS, the Medica proposal would result in no change in the aggregate value of
benefits; and
WHEREAS, Medica is being recommended as the medical insurance provider for city
employees, beginning January 1, 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA that it hereby approves the selection of
Medica as the city's medical insurance provider, effective January 1, 2013, and that the Mayor
and City Manager are hereby authorized to execute the agreement.
