HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Ordinance 2006-15CITY OF PLYMOUTH HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 2006-15 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER IV OF THE PLYMOUTH CITY CODE CONCERNING ELECTRICAL PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Section 403.03 of the Plymouth City Code is amended in its entirety to provide: 403.03 Application, Administration and Enforcement. The application, administration, and enforcement of the code shall be in accordance with Minnesota Rule Chapter 1300. The code shall be enforced within the extra territorial limits permitted by Minnesota Statues, 16B.62, subdivision I, when so established by this ordinance. The Building Inspection Division is the code enforcement agency for the City of Plymouth, including electrical inspections and permits. This code shall be enforced by the Minnesota Certified Building Official designated by the City, of Plymouth to administer the code (Minnesota statute 16B.65) subdivision 1. SECTION 2. Section 1015.21 of the Plymouth City Code is amended as follows: 1015.21 Other Permit Fees and Charges. Reinspection fees may be assessed when the inspection record card is not posted or otherwise available on the work site, the approved plans are not readily available to the inspector, for failure to provide access on the date for which inspection is requested, or for deviating from plans requiring the approval of the Building Official. $50.00 per hour2 3. Add Section 1015.31 as follows: 1015.31 Electrical Permit, Plan Review, and Inspection Fees. Electrical permit procedures and fees are as follows. It shall be unlawful for any person to perform work subject to the Building Code for which a permit is required without first obtaining a permit therefore from the City; such permits shall be issued by the City only to persons licensed as electrical contractors by the State and registered as such with the City, or to persons making application to do any such work wholly within a residence owned and occupied by the applicant, or who owns and will occupy the structure as a residence upon completions of construction, to whom the permit is to be issued and who shall be charged the following as permit fees: (a) Residential Permits (One and Two -Family Dwellings) (1) Complete wiring on new construction $125.00 per unit (2) Upgraded electrical services and sub -panels $ 30.00 (3) Wiring of additions, remodeling and rewiring $ 40.00 1" Room + $7.00 each additional room (4) Minor work only (furnace wiring, saver switches, garages, air conditioning, etc.) $ 30.00 (b) Multi -Family Permits (1) Complete wiring on new construction (2) Additions, remodeling and rewiring Permit based on job cost as follows: $0-$50,000 $50,001 and over $ 50.00 per unit for first 12 units, $ 30.00 per unit thereafter $2.5% of value, ($40.00 minimum fee) $1,250 for first $50,000 plus .0075 of remaining balance (c) Non Residential Permits (1) Permit based on job cost as follows: $0-$50,000 $2.5% of value, ($40.00 minimum fee) $50,001 and over $1,250 for first $50,000 plus .0075 of remaining balance (d) Other (1) Temporary service during construction $ 30.00 (0-100 amps) $ 50.00 (100+ amps) (2) Elevators and/or moving stairs $ 25.00 per unit (3) Swimming pools and hot tubs $ 50.00 each (4) Alarm system (120 volts only) $ 40.00 (5) Sign wiring $ 30.00 per sign (6) Lighting fixture retrofit/replacement $ 20.00 + $.50 per fixture (7) Exterior pole/building lighting $ 30.00 + $1.00 per fixture (8) Additional inspections $ 30.00 each (9) Plan Check Fees — There shall be a plan check fee of .0015 of the job cost when value of work exceeds $50,000 SECTION 4.
