RESOLUTION NO. 2012-217
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PUD AMENDMENT FOR SIGNAGE AT CORNERSTONE
AUTO RESOURCE LOCATED AT 3901 VINEWOOD LANE (2011037)
WHEREAS, Cornerstone Auto Resource has requested approval of a planned unit
development (PUD) amendment to allow installation of an electronic sign on their site near the
southwest corner of County Road 9 and Vinewood Lane; and
WHEREAS, the subject property is legally described as Lot 1, Block 1, Powells
Addition, Hennepin County, Minnesota and Lot 1, Block 1, Amoco Oil Company 2" a Addition,
Hennepin County, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed said request at a duly called public
hearing and recommends approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does approve the request
by Cornerstone Auto Resource for a PUD amendment to allow installation of an electronic sign
on their site near the southwest corner of County Road 9 and Vinewood Lane, subject to the
following conditions:
1. The PUD amendment is hereby approved, in accordance with the application and plans
received by the City on June 5, 2012, except as may be amended by this resolution.
2. All conditions of Resolution No. 2011-258 approving the PUD general plan for Cornerstone
Auto Resource shall remain in fiill force, except that Condition No. 9 of said resolution
(which pertains to signage) is hereby amended to read as indicated in Condition No. 3
below:
3. Signage shall comply with the following:
a. All signs shall conform with Section 21155.05 (Signs - General Regulations and
Restrictions) of the zoning ordinance, except as amended herein.
b. The site shall be allowed one free-standing sign near the I-494/County Road 9
intersection that contains up to 100 square feet in area, is up to 36 feet in height, and is
set back at least ten feet from lots lines.
c. The site shall be allowed one monument -type electronic sign near the
�t��e County Road 9/Vinewood Lane intersection that contains up to 32
square feet in area, is up to six feet in height, and is set back at least ten feet from lot
lines.

d. The site shall be allowed wall signage on the north, west, and east elevations of the
building, limited to ten percent of the wall area to which the signage is attached.
e. Back -lit awnings are prohibited.
f. Directional e —tee= signage shall comply with zoning ordinance requirements.
Temporary signage is not allowed on sites that have an electronic sign.
g. Signage locations and details shall be shown on the site plan and building elevation when
the required PUD final plan is submitted, for determination of compliance with the above
requirements.
4. The free-standing sign (identified under Condition No. 3.b of this resolution) that is allowed
near the I-494/County Road 9 intersection shall not include any electronic elements.
5. The electronic sign (identified under Condition No. 3.c of this resolution) that is allowed
near the southwest corner of County Road 9 and Vinewood Lane shall face east/west toward
County Road 9.
6. The message on the electronic sign shall not change more than one time every 15 minutes.
7. Prior to installation of any new signage on the site, the applicant or their agents shall obtain
separate approval a sign permit from the building division.
