SUBJECT: Tour of Hazelden Facility
DATE: May 1, 2003, for Special Council Meeting of May 22, 2003
1. ACTION REQUESTED: Tour the Hazelden facility at 11505 36th Avenue North. Park in
the "Visitor Parking" and meet at the front door at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 22. The tour
will last about one hour.
2. BACKGROUND: The Hazelden Center for Youth and Families, located in Plymouth at
11505 36 h Avenue North, has served the local and national community in helping young
people and families with chemical dependency issues for 22 years. Each year, the City
Council proclaims "Easy Does It Days" for the Hazelden Easy Does It Race, which annually
attracts runners from throughout the Twin Cities. The Mayor also often participates in this
event. During this year's proclamation, the City Council expressed interest in learning more
about this facility and the services provided to the community by Hazelden.
