HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2004-521CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO: 2004-521 APPROVING THE 2005 PAY AND COMPENSATION PLAN WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth uses job evaluation in order to determine job value; and WHEREAS, this plan is in compliance N ith Minnesota Statute 471, commonly knoN-,n as the "Pay Equity LaN-,- "; and WHEREAS, the classification and compensation plan has been updated to reflect changes to the 2005 budget proposals submitted to the City Council for revievy; and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that hard Nyork and service performed by employees of the City of PIN -mouth should be recognized through a formal Employee Recognition Program. The City Council believes the benefits of attracting, retaining and motivating employees through the Employee Recognition Program supports employee job satifisfaction, Nyhich in turn impacts cooperation and productivity. The result is to provide excellent public and customer service to better serve the interests of the citizens of the community. WHEREAS, the City Council believes that employees are more productive if they maintain healthy lifest-,-les and that encouragement and support of employees to maintain such life styles furthers the public and customer service goals of the City of Plymouth. WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the safety practices of City of Plymouth employees has a direct impact both on public service and on reduced rates for insurance and claims against the City of Plymouth, WHEREAS, the Citv's staff have developed programs and policies to further employee satisfaction, health and safety, Nyhich includes revyards for employees N -,-ho meet longevity and good service goals, practice good safety and engage in healthy lifestyles WHEREAS, the Citv's staff has also developed a recognition program for volunteers based on their service to the community; and WHEREAS, these programs has been funded under the appropropriate line items in the budget approved by City Council NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should, and hereby does: Approve the 2005 Classification and Compensation Plans attached hereto effective January 1, 2005. 2. Directs the City Manager to proceed N-,th the ongoing implementation and maintenance of the plan and its components. Approves continuation of volunteer and employee recognition and Nvellness programs as budgeted. Adopted by the City Council on December 14, 2004.
