RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF A 2004
4x4 UTILITY VEHICLE FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, the Plymouth Fire Department has entered into an agreement with the State
of Minnesota to provide response capabilities in the event of a radiological emergency at
the Monticello or Prairie Island nuclear facilities; and
WHEREAS, this contract requires the department to purchase or lease vehicle(s); and
WHEREAS, the State contract on this vehicle is extended to municipalities; and
WHEREAS, this contract allows for dual use and will enhance our command response
capability during normal fire operations; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed most economical to purchase a vehicle through a State of
Minnesota contract from an authorized dealership at a cost of $29,194; and
WHEREAS, the State has fiinding available to replace the fiinds spent from the City's
2004 Central Equipment Fund for the vehicle; and
WHEREAS, if the purchase of the vehicle is made before June 30, 2004, $14,597 is
immediately available from the current fiscal year funds, with the remaining costs of
$14,597 reimbursed from the State in the fiscal year starting July 1, 2004,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH, that the purchase of a 2004 4x4 utility vehicle for the use of the Fire
Department is authorized from the Central Equipment Fund through a State of Minnesota
bid from an authorized dealership at a cost of $29,194; and the City will pursue
replacement of the fiends with $14,597 prior to June 30, 2004 and the remainder, $14,597
after July 1, 2004 through the radiological response contract.
