RESOLUTION No. 2014-107
RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH HENNEPIN COUNTY FOR
ASSESSING SERVICES IN 2015 AND 2016
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has an obligation to complete a property assessment for tax
purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City has studied service delivery and explored collaborative options with
Hennepin County; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that these services can be most efficiently delivered
by Hennepin County, while still being sensitive to the customer service needs of the community;
and
WHEREAS, the City and County have crafted a contract for Assessing Services which would
ensure the proper administration of a property assessment in 2015 and 2016; and
WHEREAS, the proposed contract for services ensures that:
- Hennepin County will maintain a presence in City Offices with property appraisers;
- Hennepin County will provide necessary technology to complete the assessment;
- Hennepin County will staff the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization;
- Hennepin County will represent the public in all tax court proceedings; and
- Hennepin County will complete other statutorily required duties of a City Assessor; and
WHEREAS, the contract for services in 2016 is estimated to cost $861,000.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the 2015 and 2016 Hennepin County Contract for Assessing
Services is hereby approved.
