JOINT MEETING WITH MAPLE GROVE
FEBRUARY 13, 1995
A special meeting of the Plymouth City Council was called to order by Mayor Tierney at
7:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Training Room, 3400 Plymouth Blvd., on February 13,
1995. Mayor Tierney announced that the purpose of the meeting is to meet with the
Maple Grove City Council to discuss issues of common interest.
PLYMOUTH COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Tierney; Councilmembers Anderson,
Helliwell, and Wold. Councilmember Granath arrived at 7:20 p.m.
ABSENT: Councilmembers Edson and Lymangood.
PLYMOUTH STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Johnson, Assistant Manager Lueckert,
Public Works Director Moore, Community Development Director Hurlburt, Finance
Director Hahn, Public Safety Director Gerdes, Park and Recreation Director Blank, and
City Clerk Ahrens
MAPLE GROVE COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Burlingame; Councilmembers
Burtness, Ramstad, and Sargent.
ABSENT: Councilmember Koski
MAPLE GROVE STAFF PRESENT: Administrator -Clerk Elam, City Engineer
Ashfeld, and Public Works Director Butcher.
Mayor Tierney and Mayor Burlingame introduced Council and staff members of the
respective cities.
Manager Johnson presented a status report on the cluster planning process with the Met
Council relating to the Elm Creek Interceptor.
Community Development Director Hurlburt described the comprehensive planning
efforts underway for Northwest Plymouth.
Public Works Directors Moore and Butcher described various road and highway
improvements including the Peony Lane alignment options and the Vicksburg Lane
connection project.
Status reports were provided and discussion held on the following projects: Status of
new Wayzata and Maple Grove High Schools, MUSA expansion in Maple Grove,
Possible major new commercial developments, and new development in Maple Grove
near the Plymouth border.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
