HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 12-17-2001 SpecialAdopted Minutes Special Council Meeting December 17, 2001 A Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council was called to order by Mayor Tierney at 6:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Avenue North, on December 17, 2001. COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Tierney, Councilmembers Slavik, Johnson, Harstad, Stein, Hewitt, and Black (arrived at 6:30 p.m.) ABSENT: None. STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Johnson (arrived following the interviews), Assistant City Manager Ahrens, and City Clerk Paulson. Board and Commission Interviews The City Council interviewed applicants interested in appointment to a city board or commission. Following the interviews, they prepared a list of appointments for adoption at the regular council meeting on December 18. The Council also selected applicants for possible appointment to the watershed commissions. Staff was asked to work with Councilmember Black to recommend the appropriate watershed appointments based on residence, as well as to verify the interest of the applicants. The Council expressed interest in having youth members added to the Environmental Quality Committee (EQC). Staff was directed to prepare an ordinance for consideration in January to add two youth members and two alternate youth members to the EQC. Deputy Mayor Mayor Tierney nominated Councilmember Judy Johnson to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2002. Motion was made by Councilmember Black, seconded by Councilmember Slavik, to sup onrtthis nomination for adoption on December 18. With all members voting in favor, the motion carried. CCR Appointments The Council reviewed the list of 2001 Council Coordinating Representative (CCR) appointments and made adjustments for 2002. These appointments will be considered at the December 18 meeting. Councilmembers Johnson, Hewitt, and Slavik supported adding to the pending list the topic of property owner maintenance along county roads. The quarterly check-in with the City Manager was added to the January 15 study session agenda. The Council established January 24 at 6 p.m. for a meeting with area legislators, with an alternate date of January 10 depending on the legislators' schedules.
