Special Meeting
December 9, 2002
A Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council was called to order by Deputy Mayor Johnson
at 6:30 p.m. in the Public Safety Training Room, 3400 Plymouth Boulevard, ori December 9,
2002.
COUNCIL PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Black, Stein, Slavik, and
Hewitt; Councilmember-Elect Bildsoe.
ABSENT: Mayor Tierney; Councilmember Harstad.
STAFF PRESENT: Assistant Manager Ahrens
Board and Commission Interviews
The City Council interviewed 21 applicants for board and commission appointments. Staff was
directed to prepare resolutions for consideration at the January 7 Council meeting.
CCR and Deputy Mayor Appointments
The Council discussed the 2003 Deputy Mayor and Council Coordinating Representative
appointments. Staff was directed to prepare resolutions for consideration at the January 7
Council meeting.
At -Large Council Position
The City Council reviewed and discussed 25 applications received from residents interesting in
appointment to the upcoming vacant at -large Council seat. After discussion, the Council selected
the following finalists for interviews on December 16: Erik Aamoth, Jonathan Eklin, Phillip A.
Erickson, Melissa Musliner, Karl Neset, and Nancy Franke Wilson. The Council also developed
a list of questions to be used at the interviews, and staff will forward the questions to the
applicants.
Schedule Future Study Sessions
The Council removed the items on Connection to City sewer and septic system and Meeting with
Legislators from the study session pending list. Staff was asked to try to schedule the following
items on future regular agendas:
Jake Braking of Trucks,
Control of buckthorn in City -owned spaces,
Weed Mowing, Tree Removal, and related Special Assessment Procedures, and
Subdivision Regulations.
The next quarterly update with the City Manager was placed on the first study session after the
new Councilmember is appointed.

Staff was asked to provide a report on the status of the smoking issue initiated by the Park and
Recreation Advisory Commission.
Consideration of establishing a Business Council and a Senior Council was suggested as a
possible future topic for the list.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:35 p.m.
