Special Council Meeting
April 23, 2002
A Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council was called to order by Mayor Tierney at
5:35 p.m. in the Public Safety Training Room, 3400 Plymouth Boulevard, on April 23,
2002.
COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Tierney, Councilmembers Hewitt, Johnson, Black
arrived at 5:50 p.m.), Slavik, and Stein.
ABSENT: Councilmember Harstad.
STAFF PRESENT: City Clerk Paulson and Office Support Representative Gulbrand.
Interview Youth Candidates
Councilmember Johnson informed the Council that the Youth Advisory Council has
requested that the terms of office be July 1St through June 30 rather than May 1 through
April 30. She stated this would allow the members to attend the League of Minnesota
Cities' annual conference in June before their terms would expire.
Mayor Tierney stated the Council would be interviewing youth this evening with the
official appointments occurring at the May 14 Council meeting.
The Council noticed that there was only one student from Armstrong High School who
applied to serve on a commission. Councilmember Stein volunteered to contact
Armstrong High School in order to receive applications from students who would be
willing to serve on the Environmental Quality Committee, Human Rights Commission,
and the Youth Advisory Council.
The Council interviewed the applicants and requested that staff prepare the resolution for
the May 14 meeting. It was noted that one of the alternate member positions on the EQC
and the Ward 3 and Ward 4 positions on the Youth Council Advisory Committee would
be left open at this time in order that Councilmember Stein could receive applications
from youth at Armstrong High School to fill those positions at the May 1.4 Council
meeting.
There being no fiirther discussion, Mayor Tierney declared the meeting adjourned at 6:50
p.m.
