HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2014-025CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION No. 2014-025 APPROVING EXCEPTION FROM SECTION 2005.13 OF THE CITY CODE FOR AN EVENT AT THE HILDE PERFORMANCE CENTER WHEREAS, the Hilde Performance Center (Hilde) is the home facility of Music in Plymouth, as well as, many other community concerts and private events; and WHEREAS, this facility is one of only a few outdoor venues in the State of Minnesota that has the space and infrastructure that can successfully host top -name entertainment; and WHEREAS, the City has opted to collaborate with Sue McLean and Associates, Inc. as the designated concert manager/promoter because of their connections with top entertainment talent, and their professional experience with site logistics, ticketing, marketing and promotion, and overall large event management; and WHEREAS, staff has tentatively placed a hold on the Hilde Performance Center site for Friday, June 6, 2014. The concert will be a ticketed event with a targeted attendance range of 3,000-5,000, which is significantly smaller than Music in Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the concert event will feature a top named musical performer such as the "Gear Daddies" or "Tedeschi Tricks Band" that have local and/or regional appeal; and WHEREAS, because of the caliber, size and scope of this event, ticket sales as well as ancillary sales of liquor (beer/wine) and food are necessary to offset entertainment and operational costs to ensure financial viability; and WHEREAS, to allow for liquor and beer in the park, an exception from Section 2005.13 of the City Code is necessary, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, to approve an exception from Section 2005.13 of the City Code to allow liquor sales at the Hilde Performance Center for a musical event on June 6, 2014. APPROVED this 14th day of January, 2014.
