ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A FRANCHISE FEE FOR
CENTERPOINT ENERGY
Ordinance Number 2014-02 was recently adopted by the City Council. Because of the lengthy
nature of the ordinance, the following summary of the ordinance has been prepared for
publication as authorized by law.
The Ordinance imposes a franchise fee on Centerpoint Energy, its successors and assigns, as part of
the franchise previously granted the company by ordinance number 2014-02.
Ordinance 2014-02 provides for the imposition, collection, quarterly payment and periodic auditing of a
franchise fee at the following rates:
Residential $2.00 per month
Firm A $3.00 per month
Firm B $10.00 per month
Firm C $40.00 per month
Small Volume, Dual Fuel A ("SVDF A") $40.00 per month
Small Volume, Dual Fuel B ("SVDF B") $40.00 per month
Large Volume, Dual Fuel ("LVDF") $40.00 per month
Printed copies of both ordinances are available for inspection by any person during the
City Hall regular office hours.
