HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 02-20-2003 SpecialAdopted Minutes Special Council Meeting February 20, 2003 Mayor Johnson called a Special Meeting of the Plymouth City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Avenue North, on February 20, 2003. COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Slavik, Bildsoe, Black, and Stein. ABSENT: Councilmembers Neset and Hewitt. STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Johnson, Finance Director Hahn, Community Development Director Hurlburt, and City Clerk Paulson. LEGISLATORS PRESENT: State Representatives Steve Smith and Lynne Osterman, and State Senators Gen Olson, David Gaither, and Ann Rest. A discussion was held on the Council's priority issues for the 2003 legislative session. The Council requested legislation to amend Minnesota Statutes 117.50 relating to uniform relocation assistance. The Council explained some of the difficulties that the City experienced with determining relocation benefits for properties that were purchased for the County Road 101 project. Proposed legislation would change the definition of displaced person to correspond to Federal regulations. Senators Gaither and Rest stated that they would author a bill. The Council also requested legislation to amend Minnesota Statutes 1613.65 relating to the State Building Code which would change certain requirements and procedures of an oversight committee. Senator Olson stated she would organize the effort to author a bill. A discussion was held on the County Workhouse in the City in regards to proposed legislation for "double bunking." Jean Yin, a member of the City's Youth Advisory Council, encouraged everyone to attend the Youth Town Forum on March 3 from 5:30 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at the Plymouth Creek Center.
