The Administrator reported on a letter he had received from William Kills, Medina Village Engineer, wan"ing to know if it would be feasible for Medina to rent a portion of the Plymouth sanitary sewer system wk,in available to the Hamel area until such time as the full capacity will be required by Plymouth. The Village Engineer stated that the Village of Plymouth Ass already constructed considerable sewer without planning for Medina and if we were to allow thiam to hook into our systema, it would have to be on o temporary basis and as it is so far away, he does not foal it is praotical. He further stated tha+ we did not acquire access and we do not have any legal right to deny Mr. Braesch's request. The Attorney reported on charges against Police Chief Claude Lien. He stated that on March llth, the Council directed him to take the report of the Police Service Committee, make an investigation of the items contained therein and prepare written charges against the Chief of Po- lice. These charges have been prepared and mailed to the Council and one copy to Mr. Lien's Attorney. He stated that the charges, order of suspension and notice f hearing are prepared and a resolution has been prepared authorizing the Mayor to execute the Order of Suspension. Mayor Hilde stated that presently on the Council are two men who are new tc the situation, Councilman Humphrey and himself. He stated when he joined the Council he was told there was a problem in the Police De. partment and ever since that time he has had various clues coming bixok to nim in this regard. He stated he was very interested in seeing tl%o matter be investigated as fairly as could be done and went to some leagth to see that we would be fair to all onneerned. He further stated he felt it was all very unfortunate that events have proceeded this far, and as a result of this unfortunate procedure of events, it now occurs that some pel)ple will experience some painftl publicity. He further stated that we are suffering because our reputation as a Village is going to suffer ar(I there will be very expensive costs for the investigation and legal preloedures and a delay in rebuilding our Police Department, Mayor Hilde stated that he would hear two people for two minutes each in regard to Police matters. Ruth Gordienko appeared and asked who will be the administrative head of the Police Department and has the Council authorized the hiring of more officers to bring the force up to full strangth. )Wor Hilde stated that the Counoil feels that t is neoessar; to appoint a sergeant to our Police i ergrtment and this has been consiuered and tests given and it is the administrations recom- mendetion in conourranoe with Chief Lien's recommendation that Melvin Solberg be appointed to the pcasition of sergeant, MOTION by Councilman Hunt, second by Councilman Humphrey, that Melvin Solberg be appointed as Police Sergeant effective immediately on a permanent basis in accordance with our ordinances which allow for a six month's probationary period. Councilman O'Fallon stated ;1c had received numerous calls from residents who are very concerned about proposed rezoning to multiple dwelling in this area. Councilman Hagen requested minutes of the oommitteo meeting on the zoning on the east s ide of the Iredieine Lake, cost figures from the Engineer on contour maps Of the entire area, and cost estimates from the planner on a detailed plan of the entire area.
