HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 07-13-1967 SpecialKINMES OF VILLA DE COUNCIL VILLAGE BOARD OP REVIEW PLYWOUTH, 1llli MOTA July 13, 1967 Pursuant to due call sal notice thereof, a special meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Pl,%::south, Kinnesota, waa duly head at the Village Hall on the,13th day of July, 1967, at 745 p.m. Presents Mayor Ftaples, Councilmen O'F'allon, Duntley, logon and Hunt, the Village Administrator and. Assessor, and Assistant Supervisor of Assessors of Hennepin County, Robert Martin. Absent: None. Those residents appearing were: Mr. and Kra. Myron Christopherson, 350 Quantico Lane, stated that his taxes on this property ars $489, however, he does not feel that his value is too high 'out that it is high in conp%rison to those of his surrounding neighbors. He requested that the Assessor check the valuations in this area and equalise them. Kra Allen Kreats appeared to quest'.on his special assessments, and was informed that his meeting was to conL:ler only real and personal property taxes and not special assessments. The Administrator advised D"r. 1Creats to come into the office during the regular working day and he would be glad to explain the special assess wl+nts to his. Ktr. Arnold Fetersoq 3432 Zane Avenue North, appeared to question the increese in takes on a house which he owns, at 17640 - 25th Avenue North. He stated that in two years, the taxes on this property have inoreased from $749 to 11169. He was informed that this increase was due to a non -homestead classification as this is now rental property and there is also a special assessor at of $220 on this property. Kr. Peterson stated that he did not feel that the Assessor's valuation was excessive. Mr. Leslie Carsick, 1125 Kirkwood Lane Forth, stated that he had received, a statement from his mortgage company that the tuxes or his property had increased $50 a month. The Assessor informed nim that due to the fast that he had moved into his home on !larch 15, 1966, and the home was vacant on January let, he had lost the homestead classification for the year 1966 which would increase his taxes approximately 8170 a year and there are also sanitary sewer and street improvement assessments on this property.
