HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 02-06-1962Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a Regular Meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth, Minnesota, was duly held at the Village Miall on the 6th day of February, 1962 at 7:30 o'clock P.M. Present: Mayor Keefe, Trustees Yngve, Kreatz, Curtis and Teberg, the Village Clerk and Attorney, and Craig D. Spencer, Assis- tant Engineer. Absent: Mone. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 15th and a Special Meeting of January 23 as mailed to each Councilman were approved, Two nominations were made for the vacaacy on the Plymouth Park and Recreation Advisory Commission to succeed and complete the unexpired tars of Herbert R. Swanson, viz„ Henry J. Mitchell and Bert Tabor. An election was held by ballot and Henry J. Mitchell was duly appointed to complete kr. Swanson's unexpired term. Motion made by Trustee Curtis that Richard J. 8erthiaume, Hamel, Minnesota, be appointed to the Plymouth Village Planning Com- mission to complete the unexpired term of Aaron Curtis. Motion seconded by Trustee Kreatz and passed by all Council members voting aye. An application for a Taxicab License has been received from Jawws N. Bauer to operate a taxicab company in the Village of Plymouth. This matter was tabled unt}1 the meeting of February 1-3 in order for the Council to give consideration to the adoption of a Taxicab Ordinance. A letter was received and read from Walter P. Halstead, Directo- of the Hennepin Go-anty Office of Civil Defense with reference to a Ci', it Defense Progr* for the Village of Plymouth. Claude D. Lien, Cnief of Police, +; the Civil Defense Director and James Dorris has been appointed as Deputy Director. Copy of an Ordinance covering Civil Defense was presented to each Councilman for study and consider- ation at a meeting to be held at a later date. Mr. ;;etch, District Engineer of the Minnesota Highway Dept. and Mr. Vevea, appeared and presented plans of tlrxe proposed 494 Freeway which will pass through the Village of Plymouth. A discussion was held which primarily concerned ,cess to the Freeway and underpasses or overpasses between the Fast, _-id West areas of the Village. A Resolution approving the plan was submitted by Mr. Welch but it was agreed tha'w it should be held in abeyance until a further study is made. Copy of a plan in to be submitted to the Planning Commission for their meeting to be held or. February 8 with thr recommendation that a report be received from them which my be considered by the Council at its next meeting, February 13th.1 If the plan is accepted as submitted, then the Resolution will be executed, or if any changes are proposed in the plan, they will then be recommended for consideration by the Highway Dept„ Nr. Vevea stated that he would send an additional copy of the plan for the use of the Planning Commission. Messrs. Durenberger and Shields of -the Wight -Hennepin Coop- erative Electric Association appeared with a franchise for consideration andadoption by the Village Council.. lotion was made by Trustee Curtis that the matter be tabled for one week for further consideration. It Was felt that the bids should be prepares for the purpose of obtaining bids on a medium-sized car. Motion was made by Trustee Yngve that preparation of advertisement for bids for a police patrol car be turned over to the Police % Fire Committee for preparation and publication.
