HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 09-29-1961 SpecialSeptember 22, 126 - Pursuant b Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a Special Meeting of the Village 8ouncil.of the Village of Plymouth, Minnesota, was duly held at the Village Hall on the 29th day of September, 1951, at 8:00 o'clock P.A.G Present; Mayor Anderson; Trustees Keefe, Kreatz, Theis and Yngve, the Village Clerk, Engin, r and Assessor. Mayor Anderson called the meeting to order. The meeting was called for a Public Hearing on assess- ments for 1960 Street and Poad Improvements in accordance with official published notice. Hearings were held on the various improvements in accordance with the number of residents present for each improvement. Fifteen residents were present to review their assessments .on K ingsview Lane and Juneau Larne from County road 15 to the North terminus. The total cost of this improvement is $26,388.82 with some assessments being at the rate of $3.93 per front foot and the other residents in the area, for which a drainage ditch was construct- -ed, are assessed at the rate of $5.227 per front foot. Four letters were received which were signed by most of the residents in the area in which they registered their complaint as to the extra ordinary cost, which was in considerable excess of what they rare adviaed it would be, and also their dissatisfaction as to the quality of work that was done. Upon checking the assessments it was found that two assessments were incorrectly computed and corrections will be made. Motion made by Kreatz that the assessments as spread upon the assessment rolls for Magnolia Lane from 26th Avenue to 28th Aver be approved. Motion seconded by Theis and passed by all Council }ambers voting aye. Assessments Five residents were present for the hearing on 12th Avenue :approved for from Highway 101 to the east terminus. Wallace Hogar-son owner of Lot 4 Block 2, Utr Vier Acres, protested against his assessment as he had Only a 16 ft, road and no assessment was being made against the circle area across from him into which the drainage flows from the area. The property in its present stage is worthless and is used only as a catch—basin for the drainage. It was agreed -that at a future date if this prop- erty was filled in and developed and the present road widened that he would not be assessed again for any improvement to an additional width that may be made to the road at that time. Motion made by Yngve that the assessments as spread upon the tax roll fay the Assessor for the improvement of 12th Avenue from highway 101 to the east terminus be approved. Motion seconded by Theis and passed by all 'council Members voting aye.
