SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
JOINT MEETING WITH LEGISLATORS
JANUARY 31, 2006
A special meeting of the Plymouth City Council was called to order by Mayor Johnson at
6:10 p.m. in the Plymouth Creek Center Fireside Room, 14800 34`h Avenue, on January 31,
2006.
COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Johnson; Councilmembers Black, Hewitt, Slavik, and Willis.
ABSENT: Councilmembers Bildsoe and Stein.
LEGISLATORS PRESENT: Senators Bonoff, Olson, and Rest; Representatives Abrams,
Johnson, Peterson and Smith.
STAFF PRESENT: Community Development Director Hurlburt, Public Works Director
Cote, Public Safety Director Goldstein, Finance Manager Jacobson, Park Director Blank, and
Deputy City Clerk Hoffman.
Mayor Johnson led a discussion on the following legislative items for the City:
Retain local control of decision making on local issues
Levy limits should not be re-enacted
The City supports full funding of the Market Value Homestead Credit
Support for Transportation and Transit Funding
Support and fund activities necessary for improved Emergency Preparedness
Encourage legislation to enhance recruitment and retention of paid on—call and
volunteer firefighter staffing.
Maintain and increase resources to encourage development of affordable and life
cycle housing
Support fair and equitable funding of the Clean Water Legacy Act
Restore sales tax exemption on local government purchases
Oppose the Highway and Street Projects Cost Rider (ICR) proposed by utility
companies
Support continued authority of local government relating to franchising of cable
services.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
