CITY OF PLYMOUTH
RESOLUTION NO. 97 - 677
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT
OLD ROCKFORD ROAD AND PEONY LANE
EMERGENCY CONSTRUCTION
CITY PROJECT NO. 5002
WHEREAS, Wayzata School District opened a high school on Peony Lane north of
Highway 55 in September, 1997; and
WHER,:AS, all roadway improvements were not completed at the intersection of Old
Rockford Road and Peory Lane because of subsoil conditions resulting from the installation
of sanitary sewer facilities; and
WHEREAS, because of the high school traffic it has been necessary to provide police
officers to direct traffic during the morning and afternoon peak period; and
WHEREAS, an engineering study indicates that a temporary traffic signal at this intersection
will eliminate the need for police officers to direct traffic; and
WHEREAS, plans were prepared for the signal installation and quotations requested from
contractors performing traffic signal work within this area; and
WHEREAS, the City only received one quotation from a contractor who could complete the
work yet this year, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed an emergency to complete the installation of the traffic signal as
soon as possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMMIT-4, MINNESOTA: That the installation of the temporary traffic signal
at Old Rockford and Peony Lane is approved in accordance with the letter from the City's
traffic consultant, SRF Consulting Group, Inc. dated October 20, 1997.
FURTHER, a contract in the amount of $33,672.00 is authorized with Egan -McKay for the
installation of the signal. This is declared to be an emergency contract.
FURTHER, total funding for the signal is from funding provided for the project.
Adopted by the City Council on November 5, 1997.
