CITY OF PLYMOUTH
RESOLUTION NO. 97 - 451
ORDERING PUBLIC HEARING
TO CONSIDER THE CLOSING OF
JUNEAU LANE/14T" AVENUE NEAR LIONS PARK
WHEREAS, property owners in the Lions Park neighborhood have petitioned the City for
"All Way" stop signs at the intersections of 14' Avenue and Juneau Lane, and 10 Avenue
and Harbor Lane to address their contemn of excessive traffic levels traveling at unsafe
speeds adjacent to a neighborhood park and along a designated on -street City trail; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer does not support the use of "All Way" stop signs as an
effective means to control speeding traffic; and
WHEREAS, three alternative concepts have been prepared for closing Juneau Lane/10
Avenue in the area of Lions Park to address the concerns of the Lions Park neighborhood;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to M.S.A. 160.263 a public hearing is required to close off a City
street to motorized vehicles which has a designated bicycle lane; and
WHEREAS, any change to the street system in this area would potentially impact all
residents living within the area south of County Road 6, west of Fernbrook Lane, north of
the Luce Line 'Dail and east of Parkers Lake
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: that it should and hereby does establish the date of
September 3. 1997 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, City Center, 3400 Plymouth Blvd.
as the time and place for the public hearing to consider the closure of Juneau Land/14"
Avenue near Lions Park and directs the administrative staff to publish notice of said hearing
as provided by law and send notice to all residents south of County Road 6, west of
Fernbrook Lane, north of the Luce Line Trail and east of Parkers Lake.
Adopted by the City Council on August 6, 1997.
