CITY OF PLYMOUTH
RESOLUTION NO. 97-3%
AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL
FOR A LOCAL PLANNING ASSISTANCE GRANT
WHEREAS, in 1996 the Minnesota Legislature adopted amendments to the Metropolitan
Land Planning Act which require all cities in the Metro Area to update their
comprehensive plans; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature appropriated Sl million dollars to be distributed to local
governments to help them meet the planning requirements, to be distributed by the
Metropolitan Council through their Local Planning Assistance program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth will be updating its comprehensive plan in 1997 and
1998 in order to meet the requirements of the law; and
WHEREAS, according to the Metropolitan Council's grant guidelines, the priority for
funding will be for communities such as Plymouth, which are within the Council s
proposed 2020 MUSA area and which are expected to have the highest growth or
redevelopment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that stats is hereby auto irized to make application for
a Local Planning Assistance Grant, and that the Mayor ani City Manager are authorized
to sign the grant agreement in the event that the City is successful in receiving a grant.
