HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1997-288• RESOLUTION NO. 97- 288 AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO MAKE AN ICE ARENA GRANT APPLICATION WHEREAS, the Minnesout Amateur Sports Commission (MASC), via the State of Minnesota, provides for capital funds to assist political subdivisions of the state of Minnesota for the development of sport facilities, and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth desires to construct and develop a community iue arena for the sports of ice hockey, figure skating, public skating, inline hockey, short track speed skating, tennis, dnd ringet, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that 1. Estimates that the total cost of developing said facility shall be $7,000,000 and the City of Plymouth is requesting $100,000 from the Mighty Ducks Fund and will assume responsibility for a match requirement of $700,000. 2. he City of Plymouth agrees to own, and assume 100 percent operation costs for said sport facility, and will operate said facility for its intended purpose for the ftmctional life of the facility which is estimated to be 60 years. 3. The City of Plymouth agrees to enter into necessary and required agreements with the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission for the specific purpose of constructing a sport facility and long-term program direction. 4. That an application be made to the State of Minnesota, Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission, Capital Budget request for an amount presently estimated to be $100,000. S.
