HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1997-208CITY OF PLYMOUTH RKSOLUTION 97-208 APPROVING FINDINGS OF FACT FOR AMENDING SECTION 21005 AND 21175 OF THE PLYMOUTH CITY CODE (DEFINITIONS AND ANTENNAS) (97009) WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth finds it necessary to establish predicable and balanced regulations for the siting and screening of wireless communication equipment in order to accommodate the growth of wireless communication systems within the City of Plymouth while protecting the public against any adverse impacts on the City's aesthetic resources and the public welfare. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that revisions to Section 21005 and 21175 of the City Code are necessary to: 1. Establish standards which permit a reasonable and equitable opportunity for the establishment of wireless telecommunication serv;ses in the City; 2. Ensure that towers and antennas are designed, constructed. and installed in a manner that does not adversely impact public safety; 3. Maximize the use of existing and approved towers and buildings to accommodate new wirCess telecommunication antennas in order to minimize the number of towers needed to serve the community; and 4. Minimize adverse visual effects of towers through caretW design and siting standards which attempt to screen and/or camouflage towers and antennas from adjacent public and private prorerty.
