RE: Plymouth Charter Commission Tams of Office
Dear Judge Mabley.
I write on behalf of the Plymouth City Council. The Council recently reviewed
the request made to you to change the terms of office for some members of the Plymouth
Charter Commission. The City Council supports the Order, and asks that you sign it.
The current terms of the Plymouth Charter Commission members are concurrent.
These concurrent terms violate the intent of Minnesota Statutes 410.05, which specifies
staggered terms for charter commissions. Under the existing terms of office, all members
of the Plymouth Charter Commission would leave the commission in June 1999. This is
clearly not in the best interests of the city. Thus the Plymouth City Council supports the
Order calling for the creation of staggered tams.
Thank you very much for your assistance in this matt". Should you have any
questions, please call Assistant City Manager Kathy Lueckert at 509-5052.
Sincerely,
Joycelyn H. Tierney
