HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1997-205I CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 97-203 PEDESTRLWINCYCLE PATH ]IMPROVEMENTS RMGEMOUNT AVENUE CITY PROJECT NO. 71104 Whereas, Resolution No. 97-160 of the City Council adopted the 5" day of March, 1997. ordered the improvement of Ridgemount Avenue by the installation of bituminous pavement with concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer. and W necessary appurtenances with the plan to be prepared with an 8 -foot wide bituminous pedestrian/bicycle path as an alternate; and, Whereas. an infr anal open house And discussion meeting was held with the Plymouth residents on RW*mom to review the plans on March 31, 1997; and. Whereas, the City Council directed a separate public hearing which was held on April 2. 1997, to determine if an 8 -foot wide bituminous pedestrian/bicycle path should be included with the Street Improvement Project; Whereas. the cities of Plymouth and Minnetonka received numerous petitions in support of a 'walk path' along Ridgemount Avenue in 1992; and, Whereas. a number of Plymouth residents on Ridgemount have expressed a definite preference for a narrower, concrete sidewalk if any off-road improvement is made; Whereas, officials of the City of Mirrxtonke have stated their position that inclusion of a %ilking path is an essential part of the proposed improvemt no; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: 1. The Rldbemoum Avenue Improvement Project ordered on Much S, 1997 is hereby modified to include a five foot concrete sidewalk, except as noted in item number 2 below, on the Plymouth side of the street. 2. The sidewalk width shall be six feet wide hi the areas Immediately adjacent to the public schools; 3. The sidewalk shall be generally located three feet behind the curb line; 4. Sod shall be placed within the three foot strip immediately behind the curb; and, S. The City shall provide snow removal and other maintenance for this sidewalk by placing It on the City Sidewalk Maintenance Map per Ordinance 93-50. Adopted by the Plymouth City Council on April 2, 1997. •
