No. 97 - 178 SUPPORT CONTINUED FUNDING OF THE MINNESOTA ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST FUND AND APPROVE CITY OF PLYMOUTH MB1V®ERSHIP IN THE MINNESOTA ENVIItONMZNTAL TRUST FUND COALITION WHEREAS. forty percent of the Minnesota State Lottery proceeds'ue ply constitutionally dedicated to the Minnesota Environmental Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, constitutional dedication of these hinds from the State Lottery for this program will sunset in December 2000; and WHEREAS. $80AW of this trust fund have been invested since 1989 in worthwhile activities including acquisition of critical land for parks, trails, and reserves, wildlife habitat restoration, education, and management and research on best practices for the preservation of our natural resources in Minnesota; and WHEREAS, these significant and important investments will henefit people today and most importantly, future generations; NOW TE MUFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plymouth. Minnesota that the City of Plymouth recommends that should the state lottery condra , the Minnesota Legislature should approve a ballot referendum to continue the constitutional dedication of forty percent of state lottery net proceeds to the Minnesota Environmental Trust Fund, and that this dedication of fluds continue in 1997; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Plymouth will join the Environmental Trust Fled Coalidon at a cost of S50.00. Adopted by the City Council on March 19, 1997.
