HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1996-7000 CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. % - acro A RESOLUTION RELATING TO JOINT AND COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZING MEMBERSHIP IN SUBURBAN TRANSIT ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 471.59 permits two or more governmental units, by agreement of their governing bodies, to jointly and cooperatively exercise any power common to each of them; and WHEREAS, an organization has been formed known as the Suburban Transit Association composed of cities within the Metropolitan area which operate "Opt -Out" transit systems; and WHEREAS, this organization was formed as a joint powers agreement in accordance with the Statutes of the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the parties have entered into this Joint and Cooperative Agreement to develop programs on matters of mutual concern and interest and identify, review, and actively oppose proposals which may be in conflict with the interest of the members. WHEREAS, it is considered a mutual benefit to the City to be a member of the association. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to execute the Joint and Cooperative Agreement as amended and attached hereto thereby pennitting the City to continue membership in the Suburban Transit Association. FURTHER, that the Mayor is appointed as the City Representative and the City Transit Administrator is appointed as the alternate. Adopted by the City Council on December 18, 1996.
