Whereas, the Ice Amu Project has had additional expenses due to poor soils and an
unfavorable bidding climate, which in turn are causing further expenditures for
architectural work and construction management; and,
Whereas, significant efforts have been made to contain costs on the project including
reducing the size of the building, changing exterior materials, and bidding alternates for
interior finishes; and,
Whereas, further efforts to restrict the costs of the project would likely affeci the
function of the building; and,
Whereas, mritingency funds should still be budgeted because of continuing uncertainty
in the bidding market; and,
Whereas, the project funds have been drawing interest, partially offsetting the increased
costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of
Plymouth that the project budget for the Ice Arena/Ufa Time Fitness Project be
increased from $8,200,000 to $9,000,000, including contingency and reimbursable
costs from other agencies; and,
Be it further resolved that the source of additional funds be designated &e Project
Interest in the amount of $300,000 and Project Administration funds in an amount up
to $5000000.
