PROCLAIM11KG OCTOBER 6 - 129 1996 AS CITIES WEEK AND ESTABLISHING
OCTOBER 260 1996 AS CITY OF PLYMOUTH OPEN HOUSE DAY
WH&REAS, the daily accomplishments of cities, their officials and volunteers provide
the cornerstone for creating, supporting, and building the well-being of communities; and
WHEREAS, most Minnesotans now live in cities, and it is them that the democratic
process is most closely seen and understood; and
WHEREAS, decisions made at the federal and state levels impact municipal
governments and the quality of life in cities and neighborhoods;
WHEREAS, the Cities Week 1996 theme of Making Cities Count—Preserving Our
Quality of Life offers an important opportunity to educate citizens about the important
work that cities do and to discuss the impact of national and state decisions on cities'
quality of life;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAVVIED by the City Council of the City of
Plymouth, Minnesota that October 6 - 12, 1996, shall be Cities Week in the City of
Plymouth; and
BE IT RESOLVED that Saturday, October 26, 1996 is hereby established as City of
Plymouth Open House Day.
