CITY OF PLYMOUTH
RESOLUTION NO. % - 398
ADDITIONAL SAFETY MEASURES IN
SOUTH SHORE DRIVE AREA
WHEREAS, residents of South Shore Drive area have expressed concern about safety conditions
along South Shore Drive from Peninsula Drive east to the intersection with 13th Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has previously caused two speed humps to be installed to slow
traffic on either side of the Bassett Creek bridge; and
WHEREAS, the City Council appointed a sub:ommittee to meet with the Medicine Lake Council to
discuss additional safety measures; and
WHEREAS, the City Council received the report from the subcommittee recommending additional
speed humps be installed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That staff is to proceed with the installation of the following
speed humps on South Shore Drive:
1. Between the Bassett Creek bridge and 13th Avenue (location to be approximately on the property
line between 10210 and 10128 South Shore Drive)
2. On the north/south portion of South Shore Drive approximately midway between 10th Avenue
and the railroad crossing
3. Between 10320 and 10314 South Shore Drive.
FURTHER, that the appropriate speed limit on South Shore Drive be considered with the design of
the Regional Trail.
FURTHER, that the Plymouth Police Department work in cooperation with cite Hennepin County
Sheriff Department on a joint eftbrt on law enforcement issues.
FURTHER, that Plymouth staff is to cooperate and assist the City of Medicine Lake on the
Installation of the "Ail -Way" stop and speed hump within their jurisdiction.
