HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1996-356• CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION 96-356 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA, BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATIONS AND COOPERATION TO AWARD A :RANT NUMBER SS -93-0161 IN THE AMOUNT OF $829500 TO ESTABLISH A FULLY INTEGRATED DIS&STER DONATIONS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, currently, when an emergency occurs, individual agencies coordinate their own resources independently, which often results in a gap or overlap in goods or services provided; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth and State of Minnesota Division of Emergency Management, in an effort to address this problem, worked together to make application for a grant; and WHEREAS, with the proposed resource collaborative, agencies could access a statewide clearinghouse of donated goods and services they (and the citizens they are serving) need during disasters; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth's current volunteer resource plan in Emergency Preparedness would work well in conjunction with this plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth would act as fiscal agent for the grant monies associated with the project; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has been notified by the State of Minnesota, Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation of the award of a grant in the amount of $82,500 to establish a hilly integrated Disaster Donations Management Program; and WHEREAS, as fiscal agent, the City of Aymouth must enter into a contract with the State of Minnesota, Board of Government innovation and Cooperation to administer these grant monies, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Plymouth City Council that this is a valuable project that could benefit the citizens of Plymouth, as well as the entire State; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and Director of Public Safety are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the State of Minnesota, Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation, to administer Grant Number SS -95.016, in the amount of $82,500. 0 0 Adopted by the City Council on STATE OF MINNESOTA) COUNTY OF HENNEPIN) SS.
