HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1996-337• CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 96 - 337 DESIGNATING A PORTION OF EAST MEDICINE LAKE BOULEVARD FROM LANCASTER LANE (NORTH INTERSECTION) TO MEDICINE RIDGE ROAD AS A SOUTHBOUND ONE-WAY STREET AND ESTABLISHING A TRAIL WHEREAS, Hennepin Parks and the City are studying the alternatives to construct the regional pedestrian trail along the east side of Medicine Lake; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered measures which can be implemented immediately to improve pedestrian safety; and WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on June 19, 1996 to consider the establishment of a trail on East Medicine Lake Boulevard from 18th Avenue to Medicine Ridge Road by implementing a one-way street or street closure. NOW, THEREFORE, .. HEREBY RESOLVED • r OF E CITY OF PLYMOUTH,1 • 1. East Medicine Lake Boulevard from the northerly Lancaster Lane intersection to Medicine Ridge Road is established as a one-way southbound street. 2. The Public Works Department is directed to implement a trail on a portion of the existing roadway along with the roadway improvements as Indicated for Alternate 2 of the June 1985 Traffic Control Study on East Medicine Lake Boulevard. 3. Funding Is provided from funds previously allocated by the City Council for trail studies and interim trail Improvements, City Project No. 610. 4. Staff shall communicate with Hennepin Parks on the safety concerns of the City and the need for the regional trail north of the one-way. 5. The Council will, after receiving the trail feasibility report, reconsider any possible actions that could be taken to improve safety from 36th Avenue south to the intersection of East Medicine Lake Boulevard and Medicine Ridge Road, Adopted by the City Council on June 19, 1996. 4 •
