HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1996-297CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 96-297 DIRECTING CITY STAFF TO PREPARE A STUDY CONCERNING THE REGULATION OF ADVERTISING SIGNS WHEREAS, the City's sign ordinance has not been comprehensively updated since 1984; and WHERSAS, the City is concerned that, a proliferation of advertising signs (.e. billboards) will have ai � adverse effect on the quality of the community; and WHEREAS, dee current sign ordinance contains ambiguities such as prohibiting two business signs while allowing both a business sign and an advertising sign on one property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: The Director of Community Development is directed to prepare a planning study on appropriate official controls for advertising signs. 2. Based upon the findings in the planning report, the Director of Community Development is further directed to prepare ordinance amendments for consideration by the City Council. ADOPTED by the City Council on May 15,1996.
