HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1996-113CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 96- 113 WHEREAS, the P.ymouth Fire Relief Association has requested the City authorize an increase in the lump sum pension benefit to 54,000 per year of service effective January 1,1996; and WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota allowed fire relief associations to increase their pension benefits over a three year period, 1994, 1995, and 1996; and WHEREAS, the maximum allowed under Minnesota State Statute 424.02 for 1996 is the $4,000 per year of service requested; and WHEREAS, in 34 years as an association, the Plymouth Fire Relief Association has never been a financial liability to the City of Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the City Council and City Staff agree the recommended change would be useful as an incentive tool for recruiting new firefighters. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing an increase in the lump sum pension benefit for the Plymouth Fire Relief Association to $4,000 per year of service effective January 1, 1996.
