Whereas, Shea Architects, Inc. have been engaged by Life Titr!c Fitness Clubs;
sad,
Whereas, Life Time Fitness Clubs have proposed to construct a Club
immediately adjacent to a proposed City -owned ice arena; and,
Whereas, Life Time Fitness Clubs have additionally Proposed to construct
two leisure pools which they would own, operate, maintain, and to make such
facilities accessible to the public through specified daily fees; all in
consideration of a one-time capital investment by the City of $1,500,000,
certain specified site improvements, and a lease of City -owned held; and,
Whereas, the Plymouth City Council has accepted this letter of intent with a
non-binding resolution on December 19, 1995; and,
Whereas, it would be advantageous to have one architect working on both the
City Ice Arena and the adjacent We Time Fitness Club; and,
Whereas, Shea Architects, Inc. are qualified and experienced in similar
Projects; and,
Whereas, Shea Architects, Inc. have proposed acceptable financlal terms for
their work; and,
Whereas, the City may *ave advantages in bidding, project completion, short-
term project revenues, and improved information for voters by authorizing
initial design to commence at this time; and,
Whereas, the Wa rata Hockey Aasociation has offered $50,000 to help fund the
initial design costs;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CTTy COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH THAT Shea Architects, Inc. be retained as architects for the Ice
Arena project, that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into an
agreement with Shea Architects, Inc., and that art initial amount of $200,000,
including the contributions of the Wayzata Hockey Association, be authorized
for initial design and engineering costs.
