CITY OF PLYMOUTH
RESOLUTION NO. 99- 433
WHEREAS, in January of 1995, with Council approval, the
Department of Public Safety submitted an application for a grant from the
COPS Office, US Department of Justice, Office of the Associate Attorney
General for partial funding of one additional police officer; and
WHEREAS, the Department was notified by letter dated June 22,
1995 that our grant request had been approved by the COPS Office; and
WHEREAS, the grant is for a total of $75,000 over a three year period
of April 1, 1995 to March 31, 1998 in order to cover a porticn of one
officer's salary and benefits; and
WHEREAS, the City's portion of the funds for the period would be
approximately $57,000 over the period; ant;
WHEREAS, there has been sufficient money provided in the 1995
budgeted salaries and benefits in the Public Safbty budget to meet the City's
required match, and
WHEREAS, the City would 5e able to budget the match required for
1996 and 1997; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety seeks Council
authorization for the City Manager and Director of Public Safety to execute a
Federal Grant with the COPS Office, US Department of Justice, Office of the
Associate Attorney General.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, the City Council adopt the resolution
authorizing the City Manager and the Director of P6blic Safety to execute the
grant from the COPS Office, US Department of Justice, Office of the
Associate Attorney General for p^rtial funding of one additional police officer
grant award in the amount of $75,000.00.
