HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1995-177Ll CITY OF PLYMOUTH 1 RESOLUTION NO. 95 -177 RESOLUTION AWARDING BID PLYMOUTH CREEK CHANNEL CLEANING CITY PROJECT NO. 50 WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for Plymouth Creek Channel Cleaning bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Neumann's Enterprise $26,745 Nadeau Utility 53,280 F.F. Jedlicki 57,421 WHEREAS, it appears that Neumann's Enterprise of Corcoran, Minnesota is the lowest responsible bidder, complying with the minimum specifications. i�•� r_i.•••• �:•:c • :• r: • r •• is CITY OF PLYMOUTH,I • 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into the attached contract with Neumann's Enterprise of Corcoran, Minnesota in the name of the City of Plymouth for Plymouth Creek Channel Cleaning Project according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk in the amount of $26,745. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders and the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed. 1. The City Forester shall mark each tree that needs to be removed. The tree removal for the excavated channel will be limited to the south and west of the existing channel as much as possible. Only those trees along the north and east side of the existing channel that will block the flow of water in the channel, are dead or are leaning over the channel will be removed. The stumps from any tree removal on the north and east side of the channel will be left in place in order that the existing bank does not have to be disturbed. 0 RESOLUTION NO. 95 -177 ( Pap Two 2. All work be performed in the drainage easements which have previously been granted to the City. 3. The area disturbed by excavation of the new channel will be revegetated in accordance with the requirements of DNR. Revegetation along the northerly side of the channel, but out of the channel area, will also include ground cover which will provide seeds and berries for wildlife habitat. 4. The City will make available up to $500 of project funds to participate with the school in an education program as a result of this project. The purpose of the program would be to determine how an area can be managed for wildlife habitat, but also provide for the conveyance of the water runoff. The program will develop alternate test sites along the south and west areas of the new channel to explore planted materials with natural growth. 5. The City will assist and provide matching funds for an "Arbor Day" event at the school site. This event will involve plantings along the west side of the playground for do velopment of a windbredc/wildlife habitat area. ( 6. At the request of the school the City staff will work with school officials on education programs either by presentations or by video. 7. At the request of the parents tree removal will not begin until at least Thursday, March 9 when school is not in session. 8. The City will not issue a burn permit for disposal of the trees.
