HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1995-028CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 95-28 URGING LSD 279 APPROVAL OF BOUNDARY PLAN LESS DISRUFrM TO PLYMOUTH RESIDENTS WHEREAS, the voters in ISD 279 recently passed bonds for construction of two (2) elementary schools and one (1) high school located in the City of Maple Grove; and WHEREAS, a boundary commission has been assigned the task of establishing new boundaries for elementary, junior and senior high schools within ISD 279; and WHEREAS, the above referenced boundary commission has been charged with the task of establishing boundaries that disrupt the fewest number of students; and WHEREAS, all Plymouth elementary students have been for years bused past existing elementary schools in ISD 279 to attend Sunny Hollow Elementary; and WHEREAS, all Plymouth junior high students attend Maple Grove Junior High School which is in close proximity to the ISD 279's Plymouth territory; and WHEREAS, all Plymouth junior high students proceed with their elementary and junior high classmates from Plymouth and Maple Grove to attend the same high school as a group; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does request and urge the School Board of the Independent School District 279 to approve a boundary plan that meets the following goals: 1. Allows the Plymouth elementary students to attend schools located in Maple Grove, and be divided into not mors than two (2) groups for this purpose; and 2. Allows the Plymouth junior high students to continue to attend the Maple Grove Junior High School; and 3. Allows the Plymouth junior high school students to advance to the ISD 279 senior high school that will accommodate the majority of their classmates from their elementary and junior high school level.
