HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1993-352CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 93-352 WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has been requested to contribute a portion of their Community Development Block Grant allocation to assist Parents In Community Action (PICA) in paying for a portion of the renovation work on the Town Hall Head Start facility located in Brooklyn Park; and, WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth wishes to express its wholehearted endorsement of the development of Head Start facilities in the suburban Hennepin County by allocating an amount equal to six percent of the total $278,300 requested from the ten northwest communities based on current number of students enrolled in Head Start from the City of Plymouth; and, WHEREAS, the City would consider additional funding for Fiscal Years 1994 and 1995, if continuing progress is demonstrated toward development of an early childhood family development center facility in one of the western suburbs convenient to Plymouth; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA will contribute a total of $7,500 of Fiscal Year 1993 to support development of the City of Brooklyn Park's previous Town Hall at 5800 85th Avenue North; and, will consider further funding of such facilities in a location more convenient to Plymouth and the westem suburbs in 1994 and 1995, provided satisfactory progress is being made toward planning and development of western suburban facilities. FURTHER, in approving this action the City Council specifically understands that no request for operating funding for Head Start will be made of the City by PICA or any other entity related to Head Start.
