HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1993-216CITY OF PLYMOUTH RESOLUTION NO. 93-216 INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS WHEREAS, in order to provide for orderly movement of traffic and provide for the safety of the public it is recommended that a stop sign be placed at a certain location; and WHEREAS, there is a potential sight distance problem in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of 19th Avenue and Fountain Lane; and WHEREAS, Fountain Lane forms a 'T' intersection with the "collector" designated street, 19th Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA: That stop signs be installed at the following location: 1. An "All -Way" stop at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Fountain Lane. 2. For northbound traffic on Holly Lane at 19th Avenue. 3. For southbound traffic on the trail which goes northerly from 19th Avenue at Holly Lane. FURTHER, 1. That the curve on 19th Avenue be striped to delineate the traffic lanes. 2. This action does not preclude further future action and a new petition requesting that the Council consider an 'All -Way" stop at Holly Lane and 19th Avenue would not be required. 3. The Engineering Division shall study the curves on 19th Avenue for the proper maximum speed warning signs. 4. The City's Risk Managements Coordinator shall study the trail safety concerns including reducing the speed on the trail, signage, and liability issues in order to improve safety.
