HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1989-740AaCITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 6th day of November 19 89 The following members were present: Schneider, Zitur, Ricker, Vasiliou "— he following members were absent: Sisk Mayor Schneider introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 89-740A REQUESTING FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR HUMAN SERVICE PLANNING BOARDS WHEREAS, the Human Services Councils have been funded jointly by member municipalities and Hennepin County since 1973 to meet human services planning needs; and WHEREAS, the need for planning and coordinating services in suburban and rural Hennepin County continues to be very important in assuring that the human service needs of growing suburban populations are met, and to improving the quality of life in our communities; and WHEREAS, these planning and coordination activities help prevent fragmentation in the service delivery system, create cost-effective services, and avoid duplication; and WHEREAS, contracted programs are the backbone of the human services system for suburban residents; and WHEREAS, the Human Service Councils have been instrumental in building as accessible human services sysem in the suburbs and in bringing our fair share of tax dollars back Into our communities in the form of services in proportion to the need for those services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the City of Plymouth strongly supports the funding in 1990 of planning and coordination and citizen participation programs for West and Northwest Hennepin Human Services Planning Boards; and FURTHER, that Hennepin County focus its budget reduction efforts broadly rather than predominately human services agency programs. The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Ricker , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Schneider, Ricker, Zitur, Vasiliou The following voted against or abstained: None ' Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
