Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 6th day of

Councilmembar Zitur introduced the following Resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 89-711
REQUESTING MN DOT
CONDUCT SPEED STUDY
WHEREAS, 135 parents of Plymouth Creek Elementary School students have signed
petitions requesting the installation of school zone signs, a decrease in the
speed limit from 50 m.p.h. to 35 m.p.h. on Vicksburg Lane adjacent to the
school and from C.S.A.H. 9 to Schmidt Lake Road; and
WHEREAS, the petitioners believe that these changes would make the area safer
for all students on foot, bikes, or buses; and
WHEREAS, the level of residential development adjacent to Vicksburg Lane,
between Schmidt Lake Road and C.S.A.H. 9, has increased since the original
speed limit was established approximately ten year ago; and
WHEREAS, the first two items of the petitioner's request have already been
adequately addressed; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Transportation will, upon request from local
authorities, conduct an engineering and traffic study to ascertain a safe and
reasonable speed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLYMOUTH, that the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation
undertake a traffic engineering study on Vicksburg Lane from Schmidt Lake Road
to C.S.A.H. 9.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by
oun ilmember Risk , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Mayor Schneider- Com itmamb rs Vas+ iou, Ricker- ,
Situr and Sisk
The following voted against or abstained: _ None
Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
