HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1989-633CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 2nd day of October , 1989. The following members were present: Mayor Schneider,-Zpuncilmembers aT� siliou, Ricker, Zitur and Sisk following members were absent: None J Councilmember Zitur ------Introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 89-633 AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION AND INSTALLATION OF THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM INCLUDING AUTOMATIC CALL DISTRIBUTION, VOICE MESSAGING AND TELEPHONE INSTRUMENTS WHEREAS, the City's existing telecommunications equipment was acquired in 1977 and has been subsequently updated on two occasions; and WHEREAS, technological improvements in hardware and software have taken place over the last twelve years; and WHEREAS, telephone call volume to the City has increased; and WHEREAS, previous tests have shown that the City's telephone switch cannot be integrated with current technology in a fashion which will allow the City to most effectively provide service to its customers; and WHEREAS, because the twelve year old equipment may soon become a reliability problem; and WHEREAS, the City has prepared specifications for the acquisition, installation, training and maintenance of a new telecommunications system, including automatic call distribution and voice messaging; and WHEREAS, seven bids were received from vendors; and WHEREAS, the bids received are set forth below. COMPANY System Proposed Voice Mail Total System Installed FU31TSU UNITED US WEST MI SOUTH TELECOM NORTH AT&T TEL -PLUS F96D CIII $ 82,257 SL -1 5L_l SL -1 SX2000 SYSTEM 75 SATURN IIII Meridian Mail Meridian Mail Meridian Mail Digital Sand Aud i x Oc to t $ 86,263 $ 916,354 $ 106,123 $ 114,501 $ 163,627 $126,042 RESOLUTION NO. 89-633 Page 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does declare the bid of Fujitsu to be responsive to the bid specifications and to be the lowest responsible bidder; and FURTHER, does hereby authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Fujitsu for the purchase, installation, training and maintenance of the Fujitsu F960 switch, automatic call distribution, Cindt III voice mail and telephone instruments; and FURTHER, directs that the bid securities for all companies except United, the next lowest bid, be returned; and FURTHER, that the bid security of United shall be returned upon Fujitsu enterinq into a contract with the City of Plymouth, ensuring completion of this project. The notion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Ricker , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following vote in favor thereo __ay5r -6chneider, Councilmembers Vasiliou, Ricker, Zitur and Sisk The following voted against or abstained: None -------- Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
